Gala is located in a suburb of Montreal, where we have put together
a team of more than one hundred to engineer, manufacture and install our
products. With over 30 patents on various mechanical devices to our credit,
GALA is particularly proud of its strong engineering team and its R&D
efforts.
The SPIRALIFT®, an invention of the two owners of GALA,
Pierre Gagnon and Pierre Laforest, has become North Americas most widely
used linear actuator for propelling stage and orchestra lifts, making GALA
the worlds largest supplier of such lifts.

Description of SPIRALIFT® Types
Pierre Mercure Hall, Montreal (Canada)

The SPIRALIFT® was first designed to adapt to the needs
of an existing theater. Since then, Gala has manufactured lifts for a wide
variety of purposes and environments. Each one was adapted for the specific
needs of the client.
Our first priority is to determine the intended use of
the lift. In this example, the orchestra lift is primarily used for orchestra
reconfiguration and can also be used to move musical and scenery equipment.
Other lifts may be designed to be used as performance stage lifts or for
additional seating.

Treasure Island Hotel, Las Vegas (United States)

Used by Le Cirque du Soleil in its performances, the
stage is made-up of 4 stage lifts that can be operated individually.

Freiburg Concert Hall, Freiburg in Breisgau (Germany)

SPIRALIFTs® have been incorporated into several multi-purpose
halls. The totally integrated drive system causes each of 23 lifts in this
theatre to be level and stable. This theatre can be configured for a stage with
a stepped floor or with a flat and stable floor.

Place des Arts, Montreal (Canada)

At la Place des Arts in Montreal, GALAs precision level
SPIRALIFTs® were the key element in developing, truly automated seat storage
on orchestra lifts. This room frequently offers three different stage and
seating configurations in a single day. This installation illustrates how
78 seats can be moved within 8 minutes without any manual intervention.
Lifts and seat wagons were designed, manufactured and installed by
Gala.

Cosmodôme, Laval (Canada)

SPIRALIFTs® have also been used in many unique types of
platforms. Here, three SPIRALIFTs are used for a platform of 30 meters
diameter which can seat 100 people. The platform can tilt and rotate simulating
motion for the spectators.
